About Blue Lake Township

Blue Lake Township is a welcoming rural community with plenty to enjoy year-round. Much of our land is owned by the State of Michigan, which means endless opportunities for outdoor fun—boating, swimming, and fishing on our lakes, plus miles of trails for walking, ORV riding, snowmobiling, and wildlife watching.

The Township Hall can host a variety of social activities from sewing and exercise classes to bridal and baby showers and everything in between. The Civic Association meets there at 9:00 am on the Saturday of both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, and the Kalkaska County Sand and Snow club meets here monthly.  Whether you’re here to take care of business, join a class, or enjoy the great outdoors, we’re glad to have you as part of our community.

At Blue Lake Township, serving our residents comes first. To help keep costs down, the Township office has limited business hours, and not all departments are open at the same time. You can find a list of fees for various services in the Zoning and Permit section of our website. When the office is closed, a secure drop box—located between the two doors at Township Hall—is available for you to leave documents or correspondence.

Township Hall Improvements

Now if your power is lost you can have a place to come and get warmed up, get water, or even take a shower.  Even though the Blue Lake Township Hall has not been designated an official emergency shelter, we encourage our residents to use the Township Hall in times of need.

We have a 20KW generator that will automatically provide electrical power to the Hall whenever power is lost from the utility company.  A shower was installed when we did the remodeling several years ago.   Please see contact a Township Board members to gain access.  Their information is located on the directory page.
