Ice Storm Warning, weather Announcement

Blue Lake township residents, with the Ice Storm Warning, we have been monitoring the weather situation, and have been in contact with other State and Local officials in a preparedness mode.  In the event of significant outages, we will open the Township Hall again as a warming center.  The Fire Chief and his staff have been taking preparation steps over the last 24 hours.

Good afternoon Blue Lake Twp.
With the Ice storm/ strong winds on our door step we want to let everyone know Blue Lake Twp Fire Department and Firefighter’s have been working on preparation for a worse case scenario.
We have been and will continue to be in contact with our Township Supervisor, County and State officials.
Be prepared for a lot of fallen trees, wires down, very difficult traveling, and extended periods of power outages.
Please remember to stay away from any wires you may see hanging low or on the ground. Call 911 to have Firefighters check out the situation.
Expect Kalkasak County dispatch, Police, Fire and EMS to be extremely busy. Please call 911 if you have an emergency. If it is not an emergency please call the non emergent line.
The Fire Department will be working closely with the Kalkaska County Emergency Manager and MABAS Director if things become overwhelming.
Blue Lake Twp Fire Department is part of Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) which give us access to Firefighters and Fire Departments from all over the State of Michigan for help.
